Our Choir

We are a friendly, welcoming, a cappella choir that shares a love of singing in harmony! VERVE Harmony formed with many choristers from Jubila Singers which wrapped a decade of joyful singing in 2022. We are non-competitive, and we sing for sheer enjoyment, with public concerts by invitation.

We enjoy each other’s company, and we often meet for coffee or lunch after rehearsals – entirely optional. Our annual holiday get-together is lots of fun and a great way to celebrate the end of our singing season.

We meet on Thursday mornings at Green Point Community Centre from 10am – 12:30pm. We follow the NSW school calendar.

Our Members

We’re an intermediate-level community choir that continues to extend our musical skills under Elizabeth’s expert direction. Reading music is desirable but the ability to hold your part is most important. We make audio sound files for your voice part, so you can listen and learn easily at home. Singers have the most positive experience if they bring an enthusiasm for diverse music, familiarity with choral singing, and willingness to give it a go! Auditions are not required. 

Our Repertoire

We sing a wide range of world music, in many different languages, which we enjoy learning together. Our repertoire comes from cultures with strong folk traditions of singing in harmony – including Indigenous, African, North and Sourth American, Eastern and Western European and beyond. We include music from religious traditions, including gospel and spirituals.  We also enjoy a tradition of ending our weekly sessions with free-form, free-spirited improvisation.
